What we do

Intro_Graphic.gif

As a national non-profit, we mobilize transportation networks to deliver surplus food to communities in need. Together, we’re increasing access to nutritious food, fighting hunger, and reducing food waste. Take a look at our network’s impact and how our programs empower real, local change.

This year reminded us of something important: when systems falter, people step up.

In 2025, families across the country faced mounting uncertainty. A federal government shutdown disrupted essential services. Cuts to SNAP benefits placed additional strain on households already struggling to make ends meet. For millions of Americans, the safety net became thinner at exactly the wrong moment.

But in the face of these challenges, something extraordinary happened: YOU showed up.

Because of our partners, donors, and volunteers, Move For Hunger delivered more than 17 million pounds of food to over 600 food banks and pantries across the United States and Canada. That represents 15 million meals reaching families who needed them — not someday, but right now.

We saw the power of community in action.

In Nashville, our Music City Drop brought together 50 brave souls to face their fears and rappel 20 stories to help us fight hunger. The event helped us provide 600,000 meals to families in need.

At Apartmentalize, our Jump For Hunger campaign mobilized the leaders in multifamily around a simple but powerful truth: hunger is solvable when we work together. Plus - 15 of our champions jumped off Las Vegas’s Stratosphere. Why 2025 was the year of jumping off buildings, I don’t know, but I’m here for it!

We were also recognized for our solid work in 2025 and invited to ring the closing bell at the NASDAQ on Christmas Eve — what an honor!

Across the country, our network of movers, multifamily communities, logistics providers, and corporate partners continued doing what they do best: moving food where it’s needed most. More and more companies including CPGs, farmers, and distributors have begun trusting Move For Hunger with their food recovery efforts, and we’re thrilled for the opportunity to see their food donations move to people rather than landfills.

Whether it’s 47,000 pounds of Halibut and Pacific Hake we scheduled for pickup with one of our partners or capturing over 80 pallets of pretzel buns before they hit the trash heap, our team will continue to work hard to ensure that no food goes to waste.

As we look ahead, we know the need remains significant. But we also know something even more powerful: this network is resilient. Innovative. Relentless.

When the safety net weakens, we strengthen our commitment.
When challenges rise, we rise higher.
When hunger grows, so does our resolve.

Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for believing that surplus food should never go to waste while families go hungry. And thank you for helping Move For Hunger turn logistics into a lifeline.

With gratitude,

Adam Lowy

2025 Spotlights:

Move For Hunger is 16 Years Stronger, thanks to you! Take a look at the milestones from this year

  • Fifty brave individuals rappelled 20 stories down the Omni Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee for Music City Drop 2025, helping Move For Hunger raise the equivalent of more than 680,000 meals for families in need. The event, supported by partners from Rice Krispies Treats, People Magazine, Kroger, Dollar General, and Apex Moving was one of Move For Hunger’s most impactful moments of the year, not to mention a really good time.

  • We were founded on a simple idea: donate your food when you move. Over the last 16 years, we’ve expanded from one family moving company to a network of 1,400 transportation partners and more than 2,500 multifamily apartment communities nationwide. This year we hit a remarkable milestone: we’ve delivered more than 50 million meals to communities in need.

  • Throughout 2025, our Multifamily Program continued to grow, engaging residents and onsite teams through food drives, community-based initiatives, and hands-on events, including a one-of-a-kind meal kit packing event at the 2025 Apartment Innovation and Marketing (AIM) conference, where multifamily professionals, alongside sponsors Updater, CORT and ALN came together to pack meal kits for Los Angeles residents impacted by wildfires. Our multifamily program is embedding hunger relief directly into the places people live.

  • We capped off another record year at Move For Hunger by ringing the Nasdaq Closing Bell in December 2025. Every day, we’re reminded that hunger isn’t political…it’s personal. And when businesses, communities, and individuals come together with purpose, real change happens. It was an honor to ring the bell  in celebration of the partners and supporters who make our work possible.

Taking The Work Out of Food Drives

Move For Hunger is easy to work with and collaborates well with my entire group. I have used them for several years to do multiple food drives for our apartment communities. They take the work out of it.
