THE NEED HAS NEVER BEEN GREATER
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating economic impact and has drastically increased the need for emergency food assistance nationwide. Five million more people in the United States have become food insecure since the start of the pandemic for a total of 38 million food-insecure Americans including 1 in 6 children. Communities with the highest levels of food insecurity before the pandemic, which are overrepresented by counties with a majority Black population, continue to struggle and are seeing the highest rates of food insecurity this year.
