United Van Lines Joins Move For Hunger To Deliver More Meals

February 13, 2025

We’re excited to welcome United Van Lines as our newest partner! Dedicated to supporting our mission, we’re looking forward to making an even greater impact this year with the UniGroup network. Together with Mayflower Transit, who recently renewed their partnership, we can deliver more meals across the country.

Over the years, The UniGroup network has made a strong impact in combating food insecurity. In total, United Van Lines has delivered over 1 million meals and Mayflower Transit has delivered more than 838,000 meals. Together these efforts total 1.8 million meals provided to those in need!

By working together, last year alone 52 Mayflower agents and 116 United agents collaborated to transport 147,000 meals. That’s not all! Generously, the UniGroup network has donated their time, equipment, dollars, and manpower. Collectively this support has allowed Move For Hunger to provide more than 2.5 million meals to those struggling with hunger across the country.

We’re looking forward to celebrating this partnership and our achievements together at the upcoming 2025 UniGroup Learning Conference.

At Move For Hunger, we strive to bridge the gap between surplus food and those who need it most. Our partnership with United Van Lines reinforces our commitment to fighting hunger in communities all throughout the U.S.

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
