White Glove Moving, Storage & Delivery Holds Holiday Food Drive to Cap a Record-Setting Year

January 4, 2018

White Glove Moving, Storage & Delivery, a Bekins agent based in Vero Beach, FL, did a lot of incredible things in 2017.

It started in May when members of their crew volunteered to pick up and deliver nearly 11,000 lbs. of food as part of the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, White Glove coordinated a relief effort to assist neighbors who were affected by the storm.

And just last month, White Glove coordinated food drives at more than 30 local businesses to support local families during the holiday season. Together, they were able to collect 1,800 lbs. of food.

In total, White Glove Moving, Storage & Delivery donated close to 18,000 lbs. of food to the Treasure Coast Food Bank last year -- that's the equivalent of nearly 15,000 meals!

Thank you to Anna and the rest of the team for all of the amazing work you did last year!

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
