The Center of United Methodist Aid to the Community (CUMAC) held its 26th Annual Action Against Hunger Food Drive on September 24. Volunteers were stationed at 17 grocery stores in Northern New Jersey where they collect THOUSANDS of pounds of food in just a few short hours. For the fourth year in a row, our friends from Crown Relocations of New York volunteered to help get all of those donations back to CUMAC's warehouse in Paterson, where they can be sorted and distributed to 13 local food pantries.
Crown Relocations provided two trucks, and 4 crew members volunteered to assist with the event. Each of the trucks was responsible for collecting donations from 2-3 of the participating grocery stores. Crown's crew combined to collect and deliver 3,500 lbs. of food – that’s the equivalent of more than 2,900 meals!
"We had a fantastic day," said Stephanie Ames, CUMAC's Community Engagement Coordinator. "Overall we collected 15,450 pounds of food to feed the hungry. It was a great event and we couldn't have done it without Crown Relocations' help!"
