As part of Global Youth Service Day, a student in Bismarck, ND collected 7,928 lbs of food and raised $3,720 for the MSA United Way. Stopping Childhood Hunger One Backpack At A Time is the brainchild of Lauryn Hinckley, a ninth grader, who has been organizing the event for the past five years. This year, over 28 schools were involved in the collection process, with sponsorship support from The United Way, Global Youth Service Day, Youth Service America, Starion Financial, and the Sodexo Foundation.
Move For Hunger, along with Hometown Moving & Storage, were able to assist with transportation of this massive amount of donations.
