Georgia's Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) hosted its first annual interoffice food drive last month. Employees were encouraged to bring in non-perishable food items, such as peanut butter, tuna, soup, and canned fruits/vegetables, to help provide meals for their neighbors in need.
Together they collected nearly 100 pounds of food- that's the equivalent of 80 meals!
Atlantic Relocation Systems of Atlanta, an Atlas agent, provided boxes for the event and volunteered to pick up and deliver the collections to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
Nearly 1.8 million Georgia residents are food insecure, including 1 in 4 children. A big thank you to our friends at the DHS, DCSS and Atlantic Relocation Systems of Atlanta for taking the time to help fight hunger in your community.
Anyone can host a food drive. Let us help you get started today!
