Eze Fitness Boot Camp Collects 650 Meals During Third Annual Food Drive

December 21, 2016

Eze Fitness Boot Camp‘s locations in Brick and Neptune, NJ battled against each other to knock out hunger from November 14-December 9. Eze Fitness encouraged gym members and residents of their local communities to bring cans and a can-do attitude to become a part of the fight. Non-members worked out for free with a contribution of 5 non-perishable goods.

Together, both locations collected a whopping 775 pounds of food! That equates to an amazing 650 meals for their neighbors in need!

Lowy’s Moving ServicelowysMovingService_logo, an agent of Wheaton Van Lines, volunteered their time and resources to deliver all the non-perishable food items to the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

There are nearly 120,000 people struggling with food insecurity in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, including 1 in 7 children. Thank you to the staff at Eze Fitness and Lowy’s Moving Service for your continued support of the fight to end hunger.

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
