The Center of United Methodist Aid to the Community (CUMAC) recently held its 25th annual Action Against Hunger Food Drive and our friends at Crown Relocations of New York once again volunteered two of their trucks to assist with the effort.
CUMAC's Action Against Hunger Food Drive is a day where food is collected by volunteers at grocery stores all over northern New Jersey. It is then trucked back to CUMAC's Paterson warehouse through a small fleet of volunteer trucks, where volunteers are ready to sort food to go to pantries across Passaic County. Collectively, these food pantries feed around 17,000 hungry people each month.
The drive has grown more successful each year, and 2016 was no exception. Crown Relocation's drivers were able to collect 3,500 lbs of food in just a couple of hours - that's the equivalent of over 2,900 meals!
There are over 1 million people in New Jersey who face hunger each day, including 1 in 7 children. A big thank you goes out to Crown Relocations of New York and CUMAC for your tireless efforts to put meals on the plates of our neighbors in need!
Would you like to host a food drive to support your community this holiday season? We'd love to help!
