Matawan-Aberdeen Middle School in Central New Jersey hosted a "Battle of the Classes" food drive this February.
Each class was challenged to see which could donate the most food and the winner was...the eighth grade with 904 pounds of food! In second place was the seventh grade, which collected 687 pounds of food; and in third, with 264 pounds, was the sixth graders.
The school collected 1,855 pounds of food in total, which is enough to provided more than 1,500 meals.
Crown Relocations of New York generously volunteered to pick up all of the donations and deliver them to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
More than 1 million people in New Jersey face hunger each day, including 1 in 6 children. Thank you to everyone at Matawan-Aberdeen Middle School and Crown Relocations of New York for your commitment to fighting hunger in the Garden State.
Food drives are a great way to teach children the importance of giving back to their community. Let's work together to hold one at your school!
