Last year, college student Chris Carlino collected nearly 500 pounds of food during his month-long food drive and was named one of South Jersey Magazine’s Men of the Year.
As impressive as Carlino's 2015 was, he managed to top it this year. Chris works at a day care facility for adults dealing with brain damage, and he decided to help them host a food drive of their own.
Carlino and his friends collected non-perishable food items at two locations throughout September to help feed their neighbors in need during Hunger Action Month. By the end of the food drive, Carlino had collected 82 pounds of food - that equates to 68 meals!
Anchor Moving & Storage, an Atlas Van Lines agent, generously donated boxes for the food drive and delivered the donations to the Food Bank of South Jersey.
There are nearly 160,000 people struggling with food insecurity in South Jersey, including 1 in 7 children. Thank you Chris Carlino and Anchor Moving & Storage for your continued efforts to fight hunger in the Garden State!
Have you ever considered hosting a food drive? We'd love to help you make it a reality!
