Glengarry Construction hosted a "Fill The Dump Truck" food drive outside Metro supermarket in Trenton, Ontario on January 14. Shoppers and members of the community were encouraged to donate non-perishable items to help fill the truck with meals for their neighbors in need.
The event proved to be a huge success as an astonishing 1,000 pounds of food was collected. That's enough to provide approximately 830 meals to people facing hunger in their community
Despite being a frigid -13 degrees below outside, friends and family came out and stayed all day to participate. Metro even had pre-made bags available for purchase so shoppers could make that their donation. The collections were then delivered to the Trenton Care and Share Food Bank, a proud and active member of the Ontario Association of Food Banks (OAFB), which stayed open late that night just for Glengarry Construction.
Over 335,000 people in Ontario are struggling with food insecurity, including 1 in 3 children. Thank you Glengarry Construction and Metro for working together to fight hunger in your community!
Anyone can host a food drive. We can help!
