Blue Oak Elementary School in Cameron Park, California held a canned food drive from October 8-November 11. Students from each of the 31 classrooms were encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to help provide meals for their neighbors in need.
Thanks to the generosity of these youngsters, 900 pounds of food were donated to the Food Bank of El Dorado County. That's enough to provide 750 meals to local families struggling with food insecurity. California Moving Systems, an agent of Atlas Van Lines, provided boxes for the drive and volunteered to deliver all of the donations to the food bank.
There are nearly 24,000 people, including 1 in 5 children, in El Dorado County who face hunger each day. Thank you to everyone at Blue Oak Elementary and California Moving Systems for working to make a difference in your community.
Anyone can host a food drive. We can help!
