Lake Pharma, the leading US-based biologics company, celebrated the start of a new school year and Hunger Action Month by holding a Back to School Food Drive. From September 1-30, all 3 of their locations in California's Bay Area collected donations of peanut butter, jelly, applesauce, trail mix, granola, and other kid-friendly snacks to help fill lunchboxes in their community.
At the end of the month, nearly 330 lbs. of food had been collected, which is enough to provide 275 meals! Our friends from Flate Rate Moving helped make it possible by volunteering to pick up and deliver all of the donations to the Alameda County Community Food Bank.
More than 214,000 people in Alameda County face hunger each day, including 1 in 7 children. Thank you to the staff at Lake Pharma and Flate Rate Moving for recognizing the urgency of the problem and taking action!
