Fight hunger while doing your favorite activities with our third annual Move 2 Fight Hunger Challenge, Presented by Weichert Workforce Mobility

April 12, 2023

For the third year, the virtual Move 2 Fight Hunger Challenge is almost here! Throughout the month of June, participants of the challenge will get “moving” in support of a worthy cause - fighting hunger. Our goal is to surpass last year’s challenge of over 90,000 meals and provide 100,000 meals to those in need in 2023.

Participants are encouraged to do any activity theyjamnatgtz 41.jpg enjoy - like dancing, running, walking their dog, gardening, knitting, or even cooking.

The app, atlasGO: Wellbeing, will be used to track your activities. atlasGo: Wellbeing can track miles, steps, or activity minutes, and is able to easily sync with Apple Watch, Fitbit, Garmin, and Strava. In the app, participants will be able to see leaderboards, post selfies with custom frames, and chat with other participants.

You can do these activities anywhere you like and on your schedule. Start a team with your friends, family, and/or coworkers, or start a separate team and compete against each other.

Registration starts on May 8th for as little as a $15 donation! Registration donations will be matched up to $25,000.

Here are the different tiers of registration you can choose from:

  • $15 - Food Rescuer - You’ll receive a digital certificate & digital medal for your participation!
  • $25 - Hunger Fighter - You’ll receive a digital certificate & physical medal for your participation!

The sponsor of this event, Weichert Workforce Mobility, has been a partner with Move For Hunger since 2019. Weichert Workforce Mobility was also a sponsor for the Move 2 Fight Hunger Challenge in 2022, which provided over 92,000 meals to communities in need.  We’re beyond thankful to Weichert Workforce Mobility for sponsoring this event!

With 34 million Americans and 1 in 8 children living without enough food to eat on a day to day basis, the Move 2 Fight Hunger event is a great way to provide meals to local food insecure communities. We hope you’ll join us this summer to help us MOVE as one, as we fight hunger together this June - and make sure you encourage your friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors to join!

Registration opens May 8th for all participants! Make sure to check back here for more information on how to sign up. We can’t wait to fight hunger this summer together!

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
