This past June, Move For Hunger and corporate partners, Weichert Workforce Mobility and Nelson Westerberg partnered together to launch the 2022 Move 2 Fight Hunger Challenge! With more than 760 participants joining together to fight hunger nationwide, this amazing group of hunger fighting heroes helped to provide 92,045 meals to those in need with every activity that they participated in during the second annual event challenge.
Throughout the month-long challenge, participants were encouraged to do any activity they enjoyed - like dancing, running, walking their dog, gardening, knitting, or even cooking - which was able to be translated into meals for someone in need. Each participant then used the social media-activity app, atlasGO, to log their activities.
Within the app, users viewed leaderboards, chatted, and posted selfies of them participating in a variety of activities. People could participate anywhere and engage in some friendly competition - and the competition sure heated up between teams!
With nearly 80 teams that signed up to participate, only one could be crowned our 2022 Move 2 Fight Hunger Champions! Congratulations to Team Nelson Westerberg for claiming the top spot by providing more than 17,000 meals with your collective activity.
Additionally, we would like to shout out Team Weichert Workforce Mobility, who with 16 subteams for each of their company departments, moved together and provided almost 27,000 meals. We can’t thank all of our corporate and friends & family teams enough for their support.
Our participating teams included: Nelson Westerberg, Move For Hunger, MSS, , Imlach Group, Born 2 Run, Hudson Power, AVE by Korman Communities, Stop Hunger (Sodexo), Walking Wenches, Claims Be Fit, SweatySolomons, Kenyon Kids, Altair Global, CSNS, Next Destination, Mighty GLOMIcron, Meta Movers, Greystar New York, National Van Lines, SCF, Mobility, IAM, Cove Cares, the Mariottini's, IOR Global Services, Int Relocation Part, Move It Move It, Women Moving Women, Tay Globetrotters, 5ers, Oncue 2022, CMS Companies, Team Dependable, Tanya, Allegiance, Chadwell Supply, National, Alaska Terminals, Reejig, Execustay, FINCOR Construction, Hunger Team, Ingrid, Purple Glaze, AGH, MOvers, BiCortex Languages, Claims Shield, Conman, Cardio Must Serve, ADP Team, Team Trials, Weichert Workforce Mobility, Weichert Realtor Teams, Montway, and Ship.Cars.
This year’s challenge gave everyone the ability to select their own level of participation. With donations for as little as $15, participants were able to help us fight hunger during the month of June, and could receive some pretty awesome swag! Even dogs could join the challenge as a suPAWter and receive a special treat! We had 67 suPAWter’s join us for this year’s event.
The Move 2 Fight Hunger Challenge is a great way for participants to give back to their communities, especially to the 13 million children that face hunger every day. Summertime can be very hard on food insecure families, particularly because they don’t have access to school-provided breakfast and lunch. Over 29 million children participate in the National School Lunch Program, yet only 4.7 million children participate in the Summer Food Service Program, which leaves over 20 million children without access to meals.
The sponsors of this event, Weichert Workforce Mobility and Nelson Westerberg, are both longtime partners of Move For Hunger. Weichert Workforce Mobility became a partner in 2019, and Nelson Westerberg became a partner in 2012! Both organizations also won Move For Hunger’s 2021 Partner of the Year Awards for their dedication to fighting hunger. We’re beyond thankful to Weichert Workforce Mobility and Nelson Westerberg for sponsoring this event!
We are incredibly thankful to each and every participant in the Move 2 Fight Hunger Challenge! With an original goal of raising 75,000 meals with everyone’s collective activities during the month of June, everyone worked hard to not only meet, but exceed our goal a week before the challenge ended! Then, after raising the goal and impact to 90,000 meals, our expectations were once again exceeded. We can’t wait to see the impact all of our participants have in next year’s Move 2 Fight Hunger Challenge!
