Sunshine Rentals is Happy to Be Helping Others

October 7, 2016

sunshinrentalsfooddropoffseptember2015-3If you've ever been transferred or on an extended out of town assignment for work, chances are you've stayed in a Corporate Housing furnished apartment. These residences are complete with furniture and housewares, all to make sure that the employee feels comfortable during this time of transition. Our partner Sunshine Rentals is a family owned company that ensures that these short term residents have all the comforts of home while away. By supplying the kitchenware, linens, electronics and just about everything else a traveler would need, Sunshine helps to take the stress out of long term travel.

sunshinrentalsfooddropoffseptember2015-1As a partner of our Corporate Housing program and a member of the Corporate Housing Providers Association (CHPA), Sunshine Rentals is a leader in food collection on a regular basis. By servicing large providers such as Synergy Corporate Housing, V-Suites, and National Corporate Housing, they are responsible for the set up, maintenance and clean up of thousands of units. Their housekeeping staff is dedicated to collecting food upon move out and their warehouse is outfitted with bins for food collection. This last week, Sunshine Rentals showed their dedication once again to fighting hunger and food waste with a delivery of 752 pounds to the San Diego Food Bank. Thanks to the delivery services of Oakley Relocation (with food of their own), the two companies delivered 969 pounds of food, generating over 800 meals for those in need.

Thank you for your continued support, Sunshine Rentals!

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
