Top Photo Tips
Wondering how you could take awesome pictures you can share with Move For Hunger?
Whether you are a mover, volunteer, or Move For Hunger partner, we’d love to share the pictures you take the next time you host a food drive, fundraiser, or help move food during a transport!
1. Portrait Mode: If your phone or camera has the capability to use portrait mode, make sure to utilize it! It's a quick and easy way to instantly upgrade your photo quality.
2. Strike a Pose: Whether you're taking a group photo or a selfie, planning a fun pose will add a little spice to your picture! Some examples of poses could be raising your arms or even pointing to the filled food truck or displaying food donations.
3. The More Pictures, the Better: We love to see the moments captured from transportations and events we do not attend. Taking various good-quality photos during your next move or food drive will make everyone feel engaged! Plus you never know when someone will be blinking, so the more, the better.
4. Get video too! Getting video content offers a lot in terms of versatility. You can grab still photos from the video, and can also use the video to showcase an event or food drive in a fun way with your audience.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1. How do I use hashtags, tagging, and/or mentions?
When sharing your impact on your social media, tag/mention any associations your company is part of, as well as others involved in the event (like the event organizer, movers, apartment community). This helps your post reach an even wider audience and showcase your involvement in the fight against hunger.
Additionally, make sure to Move For Hunger in your posts! We’re always happy to reshare, like, and comment. We’re on Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok, and our username is @moveforhunger.
Hashtags are an easy way for social media users to find specific types of content. For example, if someone wanted to look for movers near Phoenix, they may search #phoenixmovers on their social media account to see local companies.
The best hashtags to use are those that relate to your industry, product, and target audience.
It’s also a good idea to use location specific hashtags. Since Move For Hunger is based out of Neptune, New Jersey, we might use #neptunenewjersey. Also, opt for business specific hashtags. If you’re part of our transportation program, you could use #moversinsanfrancisco or #(yourcompanyname).
Here are some of our favorites to use:
- #moveforhunger
- #fightinghunger
- #fightagainsthunger
2. What is a collaborative post on Instagram?
Great question! Instagram has a really cool feature that allows social accounts to add other social accounts as “collaborators” to your posts and reels. This means that the social posts show up on both account’s feeds and profile, which helps reach an even wider audience.
You can only add collaborators (yes you can add more than one!) when posting natively in the app, and the accounts added as collaborators have to accept the post in order for it to also show up on their feed and profile.
Move For Hunger loves to collab on Instagram posts, so when posting about an event, food drive, fundraiser, etc with us, make sure to add us as a collaborator!
3. How does posting on social media benefit our business?
Social media marketing might seem like a low priority for your company, but did you know it can actually help you connect with your customers, increase awareness about your brand, and boost your leads and sales?
90% of social media users have already connected with a business or brand through their preferred platform. What does that mean? That your audience is looking for you on social media! Being active on social media means you get to showcase all the awesome things your company is doing to prospective customers and clients.
4. Are there any tools we can use to be more efficient?
Social media can be time consuming without the right tools, especially if you’re a small business without a marketing team.
Scheduling your posts is a great way to set it and forget it! Many social media scheduling tools, like Buffer and Later, have a free tier you can choose. All you have to do is link your accounts, add in graphics and copy, and choose when you’d like the post to be published.
Additionally, Creator Studio for Facebook and Instagram has a built-in scheduling tool with a planner, content hub, and you can track your analytics all in one place - and the best part is it’s all free!
If you know you want to post to your social media platforms a few times a week, set aside 1-2 hours to batch create content and schedule to be posted throughout the week!
5. How do we share about our impact without seeming braggy?
When you’re a hunger fighting hero, you deserve to brag! Your company is doing something incredible - providing meals to millions of hungry Americans.
Consider the upside it could have when your current and potential customers or clients see that your company gives back to their local communities. We know you want to stand out from your competitors - what better way to do that than showcasing how much you care for those in need?
