Want to hear something really scary? Nearly 15% of the people in Los Angeles County are facing food insecurity. Additionally, 1 in 4 children do not know when their next meal will be. To combat hunger and make a difference in the community, Empower the Community along with Beverly Hills Transfer and Storage have organized a week long food drive with multiple drop off locations throughout Redondo Beach, CA. The event took place from October 24, 2015 until October 21, 2015 to collect essentials for babies, children, and adults facing food insecurity. All donations were brought to the Foodbank of Southern California.
The food drive was a massive success and 800 lbs of food were collected! This translates to 667 meals that can be given to those facing hunger in Los Angeles County.
The entire staff at Move For Hunger would like to extend huge thanks to Empower the Community, Beverly Hills Transfer and Storage, an agent of Allied Van Lines, and all sponsors that helped make this event successful! Sponsors include Savory N Sweet, Bamboo Thai Bistro, HD Signs, Dia de Campo, Domino's, Natureba Brazillian Juice Bar, Hair Lounge, La Esperanza Restaurant and Bakery, and Billy Mitchell Elementary School.
