Platinum Fitness may be dedicated to getting people in shape and promoting active lifestyles, but they are also dedicated to giving back to their local communities. In the summer months, people become distracted by the gorgeous weather and their carefree days, forgetting about those in need of food all over the country. Not this gym.
Although Tucson, Arizona may have sunny skies all year long, the four Platinum Fitness sites were eager to collect food throughout the month of July to help the 1.2 million people who are at risk for hunger in the state. With the help of the Daniel's Moving and Storage Inc., an agent of Atlas van lines, non-perishable food items were collected at the Downtown, East, Golf Links, and Northwest Platinum Fitness locations. In addition, free 2 week gym passes were given to non-members who donated to the cause.
As the event came to a close, it was concluded that 222 pounds of food were donated in total, averaging out to 185 meals. All the food donations were brought to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona to help feed those in the area. Well done Platinum Fitness!
