Palmer Moving and Storage collected more than 3,700 lbs. of food - enough to provide more than 3,100 meals - during the month-long food drive they held in May.
The drive was in part a celebration of National Moving Month. This is the busiest time of year for moving companies, but Palmer Moving & Storage made it their mission to find time to collect food and donate it to their neighbors in need.
"It’s not about the size of your company or the van lines you represent, it’s about doing something good for your community." Carlo Petrot of Palmer Moving and Storage said about the food drive. "We are already in homes with customers that are looking to clean out their pantries and it’s just a no-brainer that we would follow suit and help this great cause."
"We also let our competitiveness out of the bag and held an intra-office contest to see who could bring in the most poundage," Petrot continued. "Our customer service department won and we all had a great time."
Over 1.4 million people in Michigan are food insecure. Thank you to Palmer Moving & Storage for recognizing the urgency of the need, and for making time to make a difference!
