The annual NJ Marathon went down yesterday at the lovely Jersey Shore with runners flying in from across the globe to pound the pavement for 26 long miles.
And for the third year in a row the runners made a difference in the lives of the less fortunate by turning the Marathon Expo into a food drive. Thanks to our partnership with the NJ Marathon team, all runners are encourgaed to bring any leftover non-perishable food items to the Move For Hunger tent during the Race Expo.
The runners and their families donated a total of 497 lbs. Thta's enough to provide lifesaving meals to more than 414 people. For the 150,000 people that go hungry in Monmouth and Ocean Counties every food donation matters.
Lowy's Moving Service, an agent of Wheaton Van Lines, donated trucks, boxes and resources to help transport the food from the Expo to the food bank.
