MovingCompanyReviews.com Feeds Chicago!

February 3, 2016

MovingCompanyReviews.com of Chicago, IL wanted to give back during the holiday season; and by collaborating with Move For Hunger, they found the perfect way! The team hosted an internal office food drive from November 3rd to December 1st. To boost the desire to participate, a fun incentive was implemented: each donator would be entered into a raffle to win a $100 Whole Foods gift card. This initiative worked like a charm because MovingCompanyReviews.com collected 194 pounds of food by the end of their drive. This is 162 meals for those individuals who are suffering in their community.

Move For Hunger would like to extend a huge thank you to New City Moving of Chicago, IL who generously provided the supplies and transportation necessary for this event to succeed. At the close of the event, New City Moving delivered the food to the Greater Chicago Food Depository to benefit the Chicago community of Cook County.

The staff of Move For Hunger would like to congratulate MovingCompanyReviews.com, New City Moving, and everyone who donated. In Cook County, there are close to 800,000 individuals who are unsure where their next meal is coming from. Everyone should be inspired to join in the fight against hunger from efforts like these!

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
