Personal Move524614_551310964951746_1336830943_nrs, an agent of Atlas Van Lines, first joined Move For Hunger back in April of 2012. Their desire to make a difference in their local community was apparent from the beginning.

Personal_Truck_nIn that short time, they have delivered over 11,454 lbs. of food for the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. That's enough to provide 9,545 meals to the less fortunate of Massachusetts.

Did you know over 800,000 people in Massachusetts are food insecure?

In November Personal teamed up with Frank FM, a local radio station, to host a Fill-A-Truck drive that brought in more than 5,000 lbs. of food.

Not only do they regularly collect food from their customers, they share their expertise with other movers to help increase donations. The team at Personal Movers led a presentation on implementing Move For Hunger with other Atlas Agents and even created reusable Move For Hunger bags for their customers to use for non-perishable food donations.

Please join us in congratulating Personal Movers for their outstanding commitment to the less fortunate.

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
