Mercer University, in association with Allied Van Line mover Coleman American Moving Services, recently hosted their third annual Move Out Food Drive. Mercer was able to collect 16 boxes of non-perishable food items for the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank.
Mercer University’s center for Leadership and Volunteerism partnered with Mercer’s Office of Residential Life in order to collect food donations for the local community. From April 16 to May 7, Resident Assistants were asked to place collection boxes in residence halls. Students were asked to donate unwanted, uneaten non-perishable food items rather than throw them away during the move out process.
“A huge thank you to Mercer Residence Life for helping us to put on a super successful move-out canned food drive!!” stated Mercer University’s Center for Leadership and Volunteerism in a statement about the event.
Hunger is an ongoing fight, but the efforts of Mercer University have gone a long way in that fight.
