Always having the community in mind, Our Place, a local newspaper based in Suffolk County, NY, collected three whole pallets of food!
Over two months, community members were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to 42 locations throughout Bohemia, Centereach, Farmingville, Holbrook, Holtsville, Islandia, Lake Ronkonkoma, Ronkonkoma, and Selden.
With over 105,000 people, including over 53,000 children, living with food insecurity in Suffolk County, Our Place and their community really stepped forward to help. They collected three full palettes of food for an estimated 1,250lbs of food, or about 1,042 meals, that will go to feed the local community in need. All of the food items went to three local pantries: St. John’s Lutheran Church in Holbrook, St. Joseph’s Church in Ronkonkoma, and Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in Centereach.
