Just-In Time Moving & Storage Delivers 3 Million Pounds to Food Insecure Communities

July 28, 2022

Just-In Time Moving & Storage, the highest-rated full-service moving company in Phoenix, Arizona, has collected and transported 3 million pounds of food donations, providing more than 2.3 million meals to food insecure families in Arizona!

Just-In Time Moving & Storage joined the Move For Hunger network in November of 2019, and hit the gas with transportations! In just the first year of joining, they hit their 1 million pound milestone, also awarding them Mover of the Month!

They volunteer for regular weekly donation pick-ups from the United Way Food Bank, transporting thousands of pounds each time. They began these weekly pickups in 2020 and have proved themselves as reliable and dedicated movers in the fight against hunger.JustInTimeMovingTruckWrapAugust20214.jpg

"Just-In Time Moving & Storage was founded on the principles of treating others like we want to be treated," said George Phillips, Business Development Manager. "Giving back to our community is a big part of that, and Move For Hunger gives us the platform to be able to help the most."

Recently, they also made a $2,500 check donation as part of the Arizona Moving Association’s Food Drive, providing more than 6,000 meals to local food insecure communities.

“Just-In Time Moving & Storage has been a dedicated part of our network,” said Adam Lowy, Executive Director and Founder. “We are absolutely blown away by their hard work and are so excited to see the impact they have this year!”

In Arizona, over 900,000 people are considered food insecure, with 1 in 6 children not knowing where their next meal will come from. In the moving business? Consider joining our Move for Hunger network or visit our food drive page to get started today!

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
