Just-In Time Hits 1 Million Pounds Transported, making them Mover of the Month

November 4, 2021

Each month, we recognize one of our outstanding movers as Mover of the Month! This October, we’re crowning Just-In Time Moving & Storage with the honor, making this the second time they’ve been awarded with Mover of the Month.

Over the past several months, Just-Time Moving & Storage has transported copious amounts of food for the United Food Bank in Arizona, hitting the milestone of 1 million pounds of food this year alone. This made them an easy choice for October’s Mover of the Month.

This isn’t the first time Just-In Time has been awarded for its outstanding achievements! Just-In Time did a tremendous amount of work at the start of the pandemic in 2020 delivering pallets of Emergency Food Bags to their partner food bank, United Food Bank, earning them the Mover of the Month for April 2020!

"Just-In Time Moving & Storage was founded on the principles of treating others like we want to be treated," said George Phillips, Business Development Manager. "Giving back to our community is a big part of that, and Move For Hunger gives us the platform to be able to help the most."

In Arizona, 1 in 8 people are food insecure. In Maricopa County alone, over 500,000 people don’t know where their next meal is coming from. The impact of COVID has been hard, and we’re grateful for Just-In Time Moving & Storage’s pledge to help for as long as they’re needed.
Just-In Time Moving and Storage joined us in the fight against hunger in November of 2019. Since then, they’ve transported an all-time total of over 1.9 million pounds of food. This provided over 1.6 millions meals for over 900,000 adults and almost 300,000 children in Arizona who don’t know where their next meal will come from. We’re unbelievably grateful for their strong efforts and impact they make on their communities!

We can’t wait to see what 2022 has in store for Just-In Time Moving and Storage! In the moving business? Consider joining our Move for Hunger network or visit our food drive page to get started today!

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
