InstaLoan Fights Hunger in Three Locations!

January 27, 2016

It was a holiday season to remember at InstaLoan! Feeling extra generous as the cold weather rolled in, Kendall Wheeler and her team at InstaLoan collaborated with Move For Hunger to create a food drive!  The drive was held in 3 InstaLoan locations: Chamblee, GA, Norcross, GA, and Stone Mountain, GA. All three drives were set and ready to go by November 16th, 2015.  By January 1st of 2016, all 3 teams had collectively gathered 320 pounds of food. This amount equals 267 meals for those suffering from food insecurity in the community. AtlanticRelocationSystems_logo

Atlantic Relocation Systems, an Atlas agent of Tucker, GA generously provided the supplies and transportation to make this event possible! Once the drive had ended, Atlantic Relocation Systems delivered the collection of food to the Lilburn Co-op to benefit the food insecure community of Gwinnett County. Move For Hunger extends a huge thank you to the Atlantic Relocation Systems for their dedication, service, and sheer selflessness.

Unfortunately, about 107,950 of the population of Gwinnett County is unsure about where their next meal is coming from. Fortunately, strong characters like Kendall Wheeler and the teams at InstaLoan and the Atlantic Relocations Systems are here to help! Move For Hunger congratulates everyone who was involved for putting a holiday meal on a hungry person's plate.

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
