Greek Week at George Mason University is about much more than celebrating the fraternities and sororities on campus. The students took Greek Week as an opportunity to host a wildly successful food drive competition! This year, students donated 26,319 pounds of food to benefit Food for Others, based in Fairfax, VA. GMU has collected an AMAZING 50,000 lbs of food from Greek Week events over the past two years. Paxton Van Lines, Inc., an Atlas agent, generously provided boxes and transported the donations from the university to the food bank.
Over 67,000 individuals in Fairfax County live with food insecurity each day. Thanks to the students at GMU & the team at Paxton, Food for Others can provide nearly 22,000 meals to those struggling to put food on the table. To get involved in the fight against hunger in your own community, host a food drive!
