DING DING DING...KNOCK OUT! Beating last year's results by five pounds, Ganguly's Mixed Martial Arts in Ocean Township, NJ was able to collect a whopping 255 pounds during this year's food drive!  This is enough food to provide over 212 meals for those in need.

Move for Hunger would like to make a shout out to this incredible business for their unstoppable generosity and support! Not only did they feed hundreds of mouths throughout their community, they also taught members of their community martial arts at no cost. That's right, a FREE lesson was given as a sign of appreciation for those who donated food. Such a fantastic event, both teaching martial arts and supporting the ever-pressing cause of hunger!

These 255 pounds of food were delivered to The Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties thanks to  Lowy's Moving Service. This means that the food collected will go to feed hundreds of the 140,000+ people in Monmouth and Ocean Counties who are currently living in poverty. Thank you Ganguly's for making this holiday season that much merrier!

Your help is greatly appreciated!!!

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
