Gain Access to the Exclusive TCS New York City Marathon by Joining Team Move For Hunger!

March 30, 2022

For the first time EVER, Team Move For Hunger has limited spots available in the TCS New York City Marathon!

Update: spots are now sold out, but you can join our wait list!

The TCS New York City Marathon is an annual marathon that courses through the five boroughs of NYC. It’s one of the largest marathon in the world - and also one of the toughest to get into.

If you didn’t get picked through the lottery, there’s still time for you to get one of our limited spots! When you join Team Move For Hunger, you dedicate your performance to the 42 million Americans who are struggling to find their next meal. Any funds raised by our team goes straight to the resources we need to promote the fight against hunger, organize food drives, and expand our network.

Due to the enormous popularity of this event, every member of Team Move For Hunger must commit to raising $2,500 minimum. Team Members must meet their $2,500 minimum goal by October 21, 2022, to avoid being charged for the difference between your fundraising commitment and your fundraising total.

Your commitment guarantees a spot in the race. If you must drop from the race, the following details apply:

Prior to June 30, 2022: No financial obligation to Team Move For Hunger
Prior to August 31, 2022: 50% of registration fee due to Team Move For Hunger
After September 1, 2022: Full registration fee due to Team Move For Hunger

You are only eligible to drop due to injury, pregnancy, or military deployment. You must have a note.

42 million Americans face hunger each day. Meanwhile, we are wasting 35% of the food we produce each year. By joining Team Move For Hunger, you can support our hunger relief and food rescue programs, one step at a time.

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
