Firefighting's Finest Moving & Storage
hosted the third annual "Pull for Hunger" fundraiser/food drive at Rahr & Sons Brewery in Forth Worth, TX on March 19. Teams of 10 competed to see who could pull a 26' moving truck 100 feet the fastest. Teams could enter the competition by making a $100 donation to Move For Hunger; individual entries were $10 per person or 10 non-perishable food items.
David Peterson, Senior Moving Consultant and Community Outreach Coordinator for Firefighting's Finest, said the event was a resounding success.
"It went really well. We had 14 or 15 teams, and the two-time reigning champion was ousted. There was music, we had a food truck, and some of the ladies from the Tarrant Area Food Bank came out. They had a table set up and were giving people information on how to start their own food drives. It was such a good time."
Carrollton Fire Department had won the event the previous two years but was toppled by a team from Firefighting's Finest this time around.

Truck Pulls are a great way to bring your community together in support of our fight to end hunger and reduce food waste, while also putting the spotlight on your company. Peterson said that the work his team does to promote Pull For Hunger is a big reason for the continued success of the event.
“We mention the truck pull on every job that we book," he said. "We have a guy that, leading up to the event, he goes and brings marketing materials and the Pull For Hunger flyer to workout places and apartment complexes. We’re getting it out in the community all year long, as well as leading up to the event.”
Peterson said that hosting the event at a well-known place in the community, like Rahr & Sons Brewery, also helps.
"Rahr Brewery is a real good partner and a real great place to host the event."
When asked what'd he say to other moving companies that are considering hosting a truck pull, Peterson kept coming back to one word: fun.
"People brought their kids, people brought their dogs. There were games to play, kids were throwing footballs. In addition to being a purposeful event, it’s just a lot of fun.”
This year's Pull For Hunger event raised thousands of dollars to support our hunger relief and food waste reduction efforts. Seven hundred pounds of non-perishable food were also collected and delivered to the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
Although the busy moving season is just around the corner, Peterson said that won't stop Firefighting's Finest from continuing to fight hunger in their community.
"We are still doing food drive pick-ups for Tarrant Area Food Bank. No matter how busy we are, we’re going to still try and do as many as we can. That’s something we’ll continue to do, as well as collecting food during our moves.”
Firefighting's Finest has worked with Move For Hunger for the past seven years and collected more than 230,000 pounds of food -- enough to provide 190,000 meals. We're incredibly proud to work with such an amazing organization.
