Falling into Action with Epic Events and Inspiring Impact

October 19, 2023

September and early October have been months filled with incredible events and inspiring partnerships at Move For Hunger. We've witnessed tremendous support from our sponsors, volunteers, and participants, all working together to make a real impact in the fight against hunger.

graebelm2fh.jpgWe kicked off Hunger Action Month in September with a MOVE 2 Fight Hunger Challenge with Graebel Companies, Inc., setting a goal of raising $26,000 to provide 65,000 meals.

We're thrilled to announce that Graebel not only met but exceeded the target by raising over $28,000, providing over 70,000 meals to food insecure communities. This achievement underscores the power of collective action in the fight against hunger.

The MOVE 2 Fight Hunger Challenge is a fun and easy way to help fight hunger! Like a ‘steps’ challenge, you can participate from anywhere and do any activity you enjoy, from running and walking to yoga and gardening. All activities are tracked through a simple app, so you can see your progress and compete with friends and family, all while fighting hunger!

Continuing our mission, we hosted a spirited cornhole tournament at the Great Lakes Relocation Conference in Columbus, Ohio. Over 20 teams participated, competing not just for the title of Cornhole Champion but also to contribute to the fight against hunger. This event marked our second annual collaboration with GLRC, following last year's incredible Truck Pull in Cleveland.

Thanks to the generous support of the GLRC and sponsors like Armbruster Moving, Chase Bank, and Herlihy Moving, this event yielded enough donations to provide over 6,000 meals to communities in need.

In addition to the MOVE 2 Fight Hunger Challenge and cornhole tournament, Move For Hunger also hosted two ArCANtecture team-building events, partnering with T. Marzetti in Ohio and Constellation Energy in Maryland. ArCANtecture is a fun and educational employee engagement event where teams work together to build a structure using only cans and boxes of non-perishable food. The teams build structures that rivaled the wonders of the world and engineering marvels. All of the food used is donated to a local food bank, providing thousands of meals to people in need.

These events provided over 42,000 meals to food insecure communities in Ohio and Maryland, demonstrating a commitment to engaging employees and giving back to the community.

The beat of our mission continued with multiple Truck Pulls across the nation, Move For Hunger’s signature event. A Truck Pull is a fun and exciting competition where teams of people pull a moving truck 100 feet as quickly as possible, and a great test of teamwork, strength, and endurance. In September and October, we organized three truck pulls that raised funds to provide over 170,000 meals to those facing food insecurity.

Our journey began in Frisco, Texas, where the North Texas Relocation Professionals hosted a remarkable truck pull at the Roughriders Stadium. The Armstrong Company sponsored the truck, and Ben Cross's dynamic LOVE&RELO broadcast captured the event's electrifying energy. In the end, the event raised over 35,000 meals, making a significant impact on food insecurity.

On September 27th, we returned to Unigroup’s headquarters in Fenton, MO, to host their second annual Truck Pull and food drive with Dodge Moving & Storage. This event raised enough to provide over 20,000 meals to the community.

In early October, our team had the incredible opportunity to participate in the second annual Bay Area Truck Pull, held at the historic USS Hornet Sea Air and Space Museum in San Francisco. This event has quickly become one of our biggest and most impactful undertakings, building upon the success of the inaugural event last year. NOR-CAL Moving Services generously provided this event’s truck, while ARC Relocation sponsored the start and finish. Together, we celebrated an outstanding achievement, raising over 115,000 meals for food-insecure families and individuals in the San Francisco area and nationwide.

As our journey across the country unfolded, we also witnessed the heartwarming commitment of volunteers from Provident Bank's Commit to Care program. On September 27th, these dedicated individuals joined us at Move For Hunger Headquarters in New Jersey for a day of giving back. Together, we packaged over 800 kits and prepared food donations for local food banks. These experiences, from San Francisco to New Jersey, underscore the unwavering dedication to the fight against hunger and the remarkable impact we can achieve when we work together.

These events have helped to provide over 280,000 meals to food insecure communities across our nation. We are immensely grateful for the support of our entire community, including our sponsors, volunteers, and participants, in making these events such a success. Together, we are making a real difference in the fight against hunger.

Every meal provided is one step closer to a hunger-free future. Thank you for joining us in this important mission.
