At a time when people were being out of work due to COVID and cases spiking around them, the employees of Hydro’s Extruder plant stepped up to help those in need. Employees at the Los Angeles-based plant reached out to Move For Hunger to host its very first food drive.
Within just a few weeks of the COVID outbreak, they stepped up to donate 300 lbs of food. That’s the equivalent of 250 meals.
Before the pandemic, nearly 12% of people in Los Angeles county were going hungry, roughly 1 in 8 people. It’s estimated that more than 50% more people are now considered food insecure because of COVID.
We’re thankful for the employees at Hydro and companies like them who recognized a rising problem and wanted to do something about it. Want to hold your own food drive? Learn more about it here.
