Dishing Out Kindness with over 86,000 meals donated in the 3rd Annual Great North American Food Drive

November 3, 2023

The 3rd annual Great NorthAmerican Food Drive has concluded with resounding success, showcasing the remarkable dedication of 27 participating northAmerican Van Line agents who collected over 91,000 pounds of food and raised more than $4,000 to combat hunger. This extraordinary effort translates to a grand total of over 86,000 meals provided to individuals and families in need. The event has become one of the largest (if not the largest) nationwide food drive in the country!

beltmann.jpgBeltmann Relocation of Atlanta led the way, collecting an astonishing 29,000+ lbs of food. Other notable contributions include over 24,000 lbs from Beltmann Relocation of Phoenix, and more than 11,000 lbs from Beltmann Relocation Group in Minneapolis/St. Paul .

An honorary mention to Arnoff Moving & Storage, University Moving & Storage, and A-1 Freeman Moving & Storage for their participation as well.

All of these incredible agents went above and beyond, making a profound impact on their communities and the fight against hunger. Their collective efforts are a testament to the positive impact that can be achieved when individuals and organizations unite for a common cause.

GNAVL 2023The Great NorthAmerican Food Drive has grown exponentially since its inception in April 2021. In its inaugural year, it collected 25,700 pounds of donations, providing 21,500 meals to food-insecure communities. The following year's drive saw participation from nearly 15 different agents across 15 states, collecting over 17,000 pounds of donations and providing more than 14,000 meals to food-insecure communities across the United States.

The Great NorthAmerican Food Drive stands as a powerful testament to the impact of community and the importance of giving back. Thanks to the generosity of the participating agents, thousands of people will have access to the food they need to thrive. Their dedication and commitment have made a tangible difference in the lives of many, underscoring the potential for positive change when we come together for a common cause.

The nationwide food drive comes as food insecurity is on the rise. Forty-four million Americans are struggling to put food on the table. This is the worst it’s been in the past decade.

We thank all of the different agents that helped fight food insecurity this fall. We believe that together, we can achieve so much more. Host your own food drive and take action against hunger today!

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
