What can we say about Firefighting's Finest of Fort Worth Texas that we have not already said. They've been a committed partner of Move For Hunger since the very beginning. They've already once received our Mover of the Month Award, and were the inaugural recipient of our Mover of the Year Award. They've held food drives, put on their own truck-pulls and have a made a difference for more than   people throughout the Greater Fort Worth Metro Area.

The only "new" news we have to report is that they've continued to go above and beyond in the name of ending hunger, so much so that they have deservedly won the spot as Mover of the Month for December of 2014. During the holidays, they generously offer their resources to an array of local hunger relief organizations-transporting deliveries of food between the food banks and pantries, dropping off turkeys, cranberry sauce, potatoes as well as the usual staples spreading real holiday cheer throughout Fort Worth.  How awesome is that?

All being said and done, Firefighting's Finest has delivered more than 90,000 lbs. of food to their local food bank. They have improved the quality of life for more than 75,000 people in their local community. That is what Move For Hunger is all about. Please join us in celebrating once again the fantastic crew at Firefighting's Finest.

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
