Corporate Housing - A Great Place to Stay!

July 19, 2016

SuiteHome_pic2In this day and age of constant travel and relocation, many companies find the need to provide temporary housing for employees going through a job change. Whether it be relocation to a new location, short term accomodations for project work, or emergency lodging, corporate housing is a great option for people who need a temporary home. The Move For Hunger Corporate Housing Program teams up with companies throughout the country to collect unused, non-perishable food from these residents upon move-out and donate the items to a local food bank or pantry. In addition, we've teamed up with the Corporate Housing Providers Association (CHPA) to mobilize the industry reduce food waste and fight hunger nationwide.

Move For Hunger had the honor of staying with one of our members, SuiteHome Chicago, during our stay in the Windy City for the Rock 'n' Roll Chicago 1/2 Marathon. The experience was fantastic, complete with every necessity a frequent traveler would need when away from home.

SuiteHome_pic1Location - Most corporate housing providers have units throughout major metropolitan areas, giving residents plenty of options for their temporary stay. In Chicago, we were centrally located right by popular areas like Millenium Park and Michigan Avenue, perfect for walking to everything.

Fully Furnished - Depending on the unit, many of these apartments are fully furnished with everything you would need for a short stay. Stylish furniture and decor give the unit an "at home" feel and having a full kitchen give the resident piece of mind while being away from home. By only having to bring clothes and personal items, it's easy, convenient, and seamless for those going through a relocation change.

IMG_1356Customer Service - Relocating to a new place can be frustrating , complicated, and down right scary. Corporate housing providers take customer service to the next level by making sure the transition is seamless from the beginning. Upon check in, residents are given a welcome kit complete with snacks, individual unit instructions, and guides to the city. In addition, each unit is assigned a customer service representative that is available for any questions or concerns.

The corporate housing industry is major part of relocation process for millions of people across the United States. By partnering with providers who are dedicated to making a difference, we're able to give these temporary residents the option to help out their new local community. Thank you SuiteHome Chicago, we loved staying with you!

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
