The holidays are a time to spend with loved ones, give thanks for all you have, and think about those in the community who may be in need. The amazing team at American Way Van & Storage, an agent of National Van Lines, turned this year's holiday lunch into a food drive competition! Employees were asked to bring in at least 5 cans to attend and the top donors would win a gift card.
The company assumed they would collect about 125 pounds of food during the luncheon -- but everyone was blown away by the final tally: The 14-person crew at American Way collected and delivered an astonishing 1,340 pounds of food to their local food pantry -- nearly 100 pounds per employee!! This will help to provide 1,117 meals for those in need! When they informed the food bank of their collection, the woman started to cry explaining that there was always a large amount of people requesting assistance, and this generous contribution couldn't have come at a better time.
American Way Van & Storage, agent for National Van Lines, joined Move For Hunger in early 2012 and has collected over 3,200 pounds of food!
