Amazing Moves "Truck Pull" a Wild Success

October 5, 2015

Amazing Moves Moving & Storage in Denver, Colorado held their 1st Annual Truck Pull event on September 19th at Lincoln Tech in Denver, Colorado. Teams battled to the death (well, not really...) pulling a 17,000 lb truck to raise awareness for those going to bed at night with empty stomachs. "Team Amazing" proved to be the mightiest bringing home the 1st place trophy.

This exciting day included a food drive to benefit Food Bank of the Rockies, a raffle/silent auction, vendors, food trucks, and kids activities. The event was a great success raising money and collecting 307 lbs of food donations to help fight hunger across North America. Since partnering with Move For Hunger in February of 2014, Amazing Moves Moving & Storage has already raised over 2,600 pounds of food. Well done team!

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
