On Sunday, April 8, All American Relocation volunteered their time and resources to rescue any unused food/beverages from the Rock 'n' Roll Raleigh Half-Marathon and 5K.
All American Relocation sent a truck and a crew to the race to pick up any snacks, water, and sports drinks that the runners left behind. As a result, more than 7,600 lbs. of food/beverages were recovered and delivered to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.
Large-scale food rescue opportunities like this are an easy way for members of the Move For Hunger network to collect tons of food in a relatively short period of time. Our movers have already rescued nearly 45,000 lbs. of non-perishable items this year and have recovered more than 671,000 lbs. from endurance events since 2014.
Nearly 630,000 people, including 1 in 5 children, in the greater Raleigh area face hunger each day. Meanwhile, 40% of the food produced in the United States is wasted. Thank you to our friends at All American Relocation for helping to fight hunger and reduce food waste in North Carolina!
