The food drive was held in the FredNats Stadium's parking lot on May 16-17. To ensure that everyone practiced proper social distancing, the food drive was drive-thru only, and donors were asked that they not wander outside of their vehicles. Boxes were set up so that people could drop off their food as they drove by the stadium and through the parking lot. And everyone from J. Barber Moving & Storage wore gloves and masks as they collected the donations and loaded them onto their truck.
Move For Hunger organized more than 1,600 food drives last year, but we have had to cancel or postpone many of our events this spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Companies like J. Barber Moving & Storage, however, are beginning to provide a model for how to safely support our nation's food banks during this crisis. Thank you to Jeff Barber and the entire team for knocking this one out of the park!
The COVID-19 Pandemic has left a massive economic impact and has drastically increased the need for emergency food assistance nationwide. Move For Hunger is actively searching for ways to meet the demand, but we're going to need your help.
