We would all like to reduce food waste and gleaning is an amazing way to do so. Gleaning is the process of rescuing leftover crops from the field and providing them to people in need. For the third year in a row, the team from Gentle Giant Moving Company of Philadelphia volunteered to spend a morning rescuing food for their neighbors in need.

That same day, Gentle Giant loaded up all the corn onto one of their trucks and delivered it to the Touch New Jersey Food Pantry. Every Monday at 1:00 PM through October 1, Touch New Jersey Food Pantry hands out the fresh corn at Miguel's Pharmacy in Camden, NJ. Members of the community bring their own bags or boxes to take the produce home.
Food banks have made it a priority to improve the amount of fresh produce they distribute for the health benefits it provides. According to Philabundance, every 1 pound of produce donated enhances 1 meal. Gentle Giant, then, helped to enhance 1,500 meals!
Thank you to the Gentle Giant crew for once again providing fresh, nutritious food to your neighbors in need!
