Our friends at Hansen Bros. Moving & Storage volunteered to pick up and deliver the donations to Northwest Harvest. Food banks all across the country are struggling to keep up with the increased demand for assistance but, as one of the first epicenters of the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S., Washington has been dealing with the impact for longer than any other state. According to Northwest Harvest's CEO Thomas Reynolds, the number of people in Washington who need access to emergency food has nearly doubled, from 800,000 to almost 1.6 million. A donation of this size would be important at any time, but it was absolutely critical right now.
To date, The Century has donated 3,443 lbs. of food - which is the most among all 1,500 apartment communities participating in our Multi-Family Program - and provided nearly 2,900 meals. We are so thankful to the residents and employees of The Century and to the team Hansen Bros. Moving & Storage for providing help those who need it, when they need it!
The COVID-19 Pandemic has left a massive economic impact and has drastically increased the need for emergency food assistance nationwide. Move For Hunger is actively searching for ways to meet the demand, but we're going to need your help.
