Move For Hunger’s New Virtual Ventures Kicks Off with our SIP with CarsArrive Event

April 20, 2021

Although the pandemic continues onwards, so does Move For Hunger’s passion for innovation and collaboration. Move For Hunger partnered with CarsArrive to host their first virtual happy hour that included a fundraiser and a fantastic wine tasting from Madrigal Family Winery.

The 'Sip with Move For Hunger' event was not only a delightful way to unwind, but it also raised raised enough funds to provide 13,000 meals!

Virtual events have become standard during the pandemic. However, Move For Hunger is looking to expand its opportunities so that everyone can get involved by attending fun virtual fundraising events such as this one. Over the past 12 months, Move For Hunger has hosted virtual trivia, karaoke, activity challenges, and more.

These virtual events are a new avenue for Move For Hunger, but partnerships with organizations like CarsArrive makes these new ventures easy!

CarsArrive Auto Relocation not only simplifies our lives but also has specialized in making moving easy for others for the past two decades. They are the nation’s largest and most versatile, fully vetted auto carrier network. Need to move a car? They’re the people the call. CarsArrive is a creative company that shares our passion for problem-solving and aiding others.

We also appreciate the incredible Napa wines provided by Madrigal Family Winery. Madrigal Family Winery dates back to the 1930s and has been family-run by three generations of the Madrigal family. They provided an enjoyable and informative tasting experience that included four different wine tastings and a tour of their vineyard and production area all over Zoom.

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
