Welcome to our Meet the Team series, where we’ll be introducing the Move For Hunger Staff 1 blog and 9 questions at a time. We hope you enjoy getting to know our team members as much as we enjoy working with them!
This time we’re getting to know Jennifer Padilla, Network Engagement Manager, at Move For Hunger! Jennifer is dedicated to raising hunger awareness and providing resources to those facing food insecurity. Her passion and commitment is reflected in everything she does.
What Do You Do At Move For Hunger?
I am the Network Engagement Manager, I work with our amazing network of movers and property management partners to get activated and involved in our mission to fight hunger. Our network makes an impact by hosting food drives and collecting food donations as people move.
Why did you join Move For Hunger?
Working for a non-profit allows me to contribute to a cause that I feel deeply about. I joined Move For Hunger because I strongly believe that no one deserves to be hungry, and I align with the mission of the organization to reduce food waste and food insecurity. I am passionate about raising awareness about the challenges people face with food insecurity, and this organization provides valuable resources and platforms to educate and inspire a positive impact.
What do you like about working at Move For Hunger?
I love that I work with so many passionate people! We are so excited to see the pounds of food that our network collects increase as we brainstorm new ways to recover more food from going to waste. It’s amazing to be part of a network that has been able to make a huge impact in food recovery.
What’s something that you’re working on right now that you’re excited about?
I am currently working on a lot of holiday food drive events with our partners. We have some fun food drive’s planned if anyone wants to join in just let us know! These food drives will help provide food to local food banks at a time when it’s needed most. As most food banks are depleted throughout the holiday season. We have a super busy final quarter at Move For Hunger and it’s so worth it to look back and see the impact that our network has made.
Who has influenced you the most?
My grandpa has been the most influential person in my life. He provided so much spiritual, life and professional advice that I am forever grateful for.
What food could you eat every day and never get tired of?
Chocolate for sure! There are so many possibilities. I think I already do this.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?
Butter makes everything taste better!
What’s your favorite movie?
Miss Congeniality is our go to movie at my house.
