Meet Alexis Daniel, Digital Marketing Strategist At Move For Hunger

April 23, 2025

Welcome to our Meet the Team series, where we’ll be introducing the Move For Hunger Staff 1 blog and 9 questions at a time. We hope you enjoy getting to know our team members as much as we enjoy working with them!

Meet our email guru and Digital Marketing Strategist, Alexis Daniel. With a passion for helping others and fighting hunger, Alexis is an essential part of our marketing team. Let's get to know more about her and what inspires her work!

What Do You Do At Move For Hunger?

I focus on email marketing strategy, automation, and creating personalized journeys that inspire people to take action. Whether that’s donating or starting a food drive, there are many impactful ways to get involved.

Why did you join Move For Hunger?

Nonprofit work has always been close to my heart. I was drawn to Move For Hunger because of its unique approach to fighting hunger and food waste through collaboration and creativity. It felt like the perfect opportunity to combine my marketing skills with a mission I care deeply about.

What do you like about working at Move For Hunger?

The people! I love being part of a passionate, mission-driven, and genuinely supportive team.

What’s something that you’re working on right now that you’re excited about?

I’m currently updating our automation flows to better engage with donors, movers, and more. I love the challenge of creating personalized content that helps bring people back into the fold and reminds them of the impact they can make.

Who has influenced you the most?

My college journalism professor. He challenged me to dig deeper, think more creatively, and never settle for “good enough.” Working in the student newsroom is where I first learned tools like InDesign and Photoshop, and where I developed a stronger eye for detail, storytelling, and research. His high expectations pushed me to grow—and those lessons still influence how I approach my work today.

What food could you eat every day and never get tired of?

Sandwiches! All kinds—as long as the ingredients are between two pieces of bread. Breakfast sandwiches, Bánh mì, tri-tip… the possibilities are endless.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?

Slowly once, rather than quickly twice.

What’s your favorite movie?

Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I love the timeless style, the emotion beneath the glamour, and how it captures the complexity of finding where you belong.

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
