Let’s play ball! The Toms River Baseball Club Little League team, the Black Sox, hosted their annual food drive a few weeks ago, and the food drive brought in more than 300 lbs of food. All of the donations were transported by Sea Cure Moving, Inc. to a local New Jersey foodbank, the Fulfill of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

Sadly, due to COVID, the actual baseball game couldn’t take place, but that didn’t stop the boys. Local residents could still drop off donations between noon-2pm at the baseball field. The food drive was in partnership with the New Jersey Warehousemen & Movers Association in which Sea Cure, a Bekins Van Lines agent, is a part of.
While New Jersey has one of the lowest food insecurity rates in the country at 8.7%, almost 1 million people are still struggling to get food. This number is expected to increase by more than 50% because of COVID especially during the winter months when cases start to rise and more expected shutdowns may take place.
This isn’t the only transport that Sea Cure has helped out with this year. In June, the mover transported over 6,000 lbs of food. Since joining Move For Hunger in 2013, Sea Cure Moving has contributed over 20,000 meals to those in need.
