Helping Hands Express Moving & Storage’s Consistent Deliveries Awards them Mover of the Month in June

July 14, 2023

Every month, Move For Hunger recognizes a moving company that has exceeded our expectations. For the month of June, we are celebrating Helping Hands Express Moving & Storage as our June 2023 Mover of the Month!

Helping Hands has been working with Feeding Northeast Florida Food Bank to consistently organize and deliver food each month this year. These deliveries have resulted in the donation of over 50,000 lbs of food!

The family-owned business has been serving the Jacksonville, FL area for the past 25 years!

"We love giving back to our communities. There’s no better time to help than the present! We also love to partner with Move For Hunger - it works great with our industry and also all the connections we have to the public as movers! Not to mention, we have the manpower, the equipment and the heart to move this food to where it needs to go!"
- Israel Vinson, Regional Director/Lead Operations Manager

Helping Hands has been one of our members since 2020 and we are grateful for their continued support. Since joining the Move For Hunger Team, Helping Hands has delivered over 120,000 lbs of food, which is nearly 100,000 meals!

Feeding Northeast Florida helps provide food to over 180,000 food-insecure people in the Jacksonville area. Every donation helps provide for those in need.

Congratulations to Helping Hands Express Moving & Storage on being our June 2023’s Mover of the Month! If you are a mover and want to make a difference, please consider joining our Move For Hunger network.

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
