Driving Away Hunger: Two Men & A Truck-Boston Awarded Move For Hunger's November Mover of the Month

December 14, 2023

In the heart of Boston, a moving company is making major moves in more ways than one. Meet Two Men & A Truck of Boston, our Mover of the Month for November! They’re continuously saying “yes” when we ask for their help and they’ve been a continuous support for Move For Hunger in the busy Boston area.

Most recently, Two Men & A Truck- Boston was seen participating in the Amwell Cares HAM Food Drive. They helped transport nearly 300 lbs of food, providing about 250 meals, from the event to the local YMCA Hunger Prevention Distribution Center. Without them, this wouldn't have been possible!

Since joining the Move for Hunger network in 2015, the work that Two Men & A Truck has done has been phenomenal! They have raised over 21,100 pounds since they have connected with us. That’s over 17,500 meals!

In Massachusetts, over 564,000 residents are struggling with food insecurity.  We are fortunate to have hard working hunger fighting heroes like Two Men & A Truck - Boston to help feed communities in need.

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
